Your stay in central Texas will be easy and comfortable at the Hawthorn Suites in Wyndham Killeen. Although it is an hour north of Fort Hood, Waco feels right at home with its good food, great shopping and friendly people.

Dana Peak Park is the number one destination for lake activities, with a few exceptions that we will soon reach. Texas Hill Country is home to the state's beautiful wine country, and restaurants serve some of the best Cajun dishes in the area that bring the South to the heart of Texas.

While we were fortunate that Miles and I lived in Fort Hood for a year, there is no shortage of activities due to the busy population in the area. We have just been relocated to a new house in Hill Country, just a few miles from the base.

The Texas sun is no joke and planning outdoor events during the hot summer months can be a challenge. Many visitors make the trip to Killeen to take advantage of the many opportunities for campers who want to experience the nature in Texas. Of course there are also those who are lucky enough to live in the Killesen area and can only drive for a few hours. In September and October it is a good time to visit Kileen, when the temperatures are pleasant and the attractions are not crowded.

In Killeen Texas we have delicious international food that covers all four corners of the city. Fortunately, living in Texas means having the world's delicious Tex-Mex cuisine right under our noses or at our fingertips.
